Want to build applications / Book recommendation?

I’m interested in delving into AppleScript with my main interest being the building of small utility programs or games rather than controlling other applications.

Over the years I’ve worked in BASIC, FORTH, Flash’s ActionScript, and Pascal and dabbled a little in some of the more obscure Mac systems like ProGraph and AppWare, and I’m planning on starting out by converting some of my older BASIC and Pascal programs into AppleScript applications.

So far, I’m currently looking at Beginning AppleScript by Stephen G. Kochan, AppleScript : The Missing Manual (Missing Manual) by Adam Goldstein and AppleScript: A Comprehensive Guide to Scripting and Automation on Mac OS X by Hanaan Rosenthal, with AppleScript : The Definitive Guide (Definitive Guides) by Matt Neuburg a fourth option.

If I had to choose only one of the four above, which should I go for? Any other book recommendations? Any books I should avoid?

Thanks,
