what's your preferred save-as format?

I understand that saving as an application is so you can have an application (duh) or droplet and that saving as text is good if you don’t want to deal with syntax errors at that moment and also maybe for some flexibility of being able to view the raw text outside a scripting app.

I almost always just save as script, but I was wondering if there are any other advantages (or disadvantages!) to any of the formats…?

e.g. saving as script in apple’s script editor, just last week I happened across this bizarre turn of events which ended up in the script editor somehow deleting the existing version of a scpt file over an smb share because it failed to save a modified version. it’s kinda hard to explain, but just let me say I don’t think I’ll be using script editor on files over smb any more…!
